Manchester United’s U21s matched the result of their senior team over the weekend, and Chido Obi’s teammate, Tyler Fletcher, had only one message for him that echoes fans’ wishes.

After the 2-1 win against Chelsea, Man Utd’s U21s were in action away at Liverpool in hopes of maintaining their 100% winning record.

Despite going a goal down, the U21s staged a comeback to win 2-1, courtesy of a clinical game from Chido Obi and a smartly taken goal by Jaydan Kamason.

After the game, Tyler Fletcher, who assisted Chido Obi’s goal after some nice interplay between him and Shea Lacey, sent the striker a message.

Tyler Fletcher’s message to Chido Obi

Obi has received plenty of praise this season for his work in the U21s set-up as he has tried to go about adding more skills to his arsenal beyond being just a goalscorer.

Against Liverpool, however, United needed that clinical version of the player in a game of few chances.

Obi answered in style with a calm finish despite a narrow angle, with Tyler Fletcher providing the assist.

Obi posted pictures of himself from the game afterwards, and Fletcher wrote, “Keep getting me assists bro,” with a finger-heart emoji.

Ethan Wheatley, on loan at Northampton Town this season, called him “Bagsman”, while the likes of Gabriele Biancheri, Kamason, Lacey, and Godwill Kukonki were among others to show their support.

Obi should go on loan in January

In any normal season, United would create space for Obi in the first team and he would play the odd cup game along with cameos off the bench.

However, this is not a normal season for the club, as there’s no European football or Carabao Cup.

In that case, if Obi continues to shine at the U21s level, then a loan move might be the best choice for him in January.

He will turn 18 in November, and that is generally the point when youngsters benefit more from senior professional football instead of playing against academy sides.

If Amorim won’t be able to promise him some minutes of bedding into the first team, then sending him to play every week against seasoned centre-backs in the English league would be the best idea.
