Owen Hargreaves said that it worries him “big time” that Manchester United could offload one “brilliant” Red Devils player from Ruben Amorim’s first-team squad.
Ruben Amorim’s men picked up their second consecutive win across all competitions on Thursday evening with their trip to Bucharest for the Europa League.
Manchester United defeated Fulham 1-0 in the Premier League last weekend before facing FCSB in their final Europa League tie of the league phase format.
The Red Devils comfortably beat the Romanian club at the National Arena, with Diogo Dalot and Kobbie Mainoo both scoring in the 2-0 win for United.
Thursday’s Europa League result against FCSB put United one point behind second-place Athletic Club and league leaders Lazio in the Europa League table.
United finished third and picked up three draws and five wins during their eight-match run in the league phase, which was introduced by UEFA for this season.

Hargreaves singles out Man Utd talent
Manchester United could now face AZ Alkmaar, Midtjylland, Real Sociedad or Galatasaray in the round of 16 in the Europa League.
Ruben Amorim has seen a more consistent run of results for the Red Devils in the Europa League over United’s mixed Premier League form.
The Red Devils picked up three Europa League draws under Erik ten Hag before the former United manager was axed by the Premier League club last October.
Ruud van Nistelrooy won one Europa League tie during his interim United managerial spell before the Red Devils won a further four matches under Amorim.
Alejandro Garnacho had a stunning impact for United against FCSB, including setting up Kobbie Mainoo for the Red Devils’ second of the contest.
The 20-year-old Spain-born attacker climbed off the bench for the second half — replacing Tyrell Malacia — after United played out a 0-0 scoreline in the first half.
Alejandro Garnacho came close to almost scoring immediately for United, only to see his strike hit the far post of the FCSB net at the National Arena.
The Argentina winger has been linked with a potential exit from Old Trafford and Owen Hargreaves believes it would be a massive mistake for United to sell him.
When asked if he was concerned United could still sell Garnacho, Hargreaves told TNT Sports (via the Metro): “Big time.
“They might need the money to get other players in to suit the manager’s formation. But you’d like to think you’d keep these brilliant, young players at the football club.”
He said after the match: “Garnacho made a huge difference, it was a great impact from the subs. He was brilliant when he came on.”
Garnacho’s Man Utd future up in the air
Alejandro Garnacho is under contract with United until 2028, but the Argentina international has attracted interest from clubs in Europe.
Serie A side Napoli and Premier League club Chelsea have both been heavily linked with the United star amid the January transfer window.
United had hinted that a sale of Garnacho could happen if the right offer were to be made, with the player’s future at Old Trafford shrouded in mystery.
The Red Devils would benefit from the sale of Garnacho when it comes to the Profitability and Sustainability Rules (PSR) in place.
However, it remains unclear if the United winger could make his exit from Old Trafford before the winter window shuts on 3rd February.
