Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes shared an emotionally charged message after Ruben Amorim’s men defeated FCSB 2-0 in the Europa League on Thursday evening.
The Red Devils played out a lacklustre 0-0 scoreline up to half-time at the National Arena in Bucharest before breaking the deadlock in the second half against FCSB.
Manchester United took the lead through Diogo Dalot before Kobbie Mainoo doubled his side’s advantage only eight minutes later in the Europa League clash.
Ruben Amorim’s side ended the league phase format of the Europa League only one point adrift from league leaders Lazio after playing all eight matches.
United came third — one point behind second-place Athletic Club — and the Red Devils have ensured their place in the knockout rounds of the Europa League.

Man Utd star Fernandes makes admission
Manchester United will now face AZ Alkmaar, Midtjylland, Real Sociedad or Galatasaray in the round of 16 in the Europa League.
The Red Devils completed the league phase format of the Europa League, which was introduced in the 2024-25 campaign, without suffering a single defeat.
United picked up three wins in the Europa League under Ruben Amorim and one victory under former Red Devils interim manager Ruud van Nistelrooy.
Erik ten Hag, on the other hand, led the Red Devils to three Europa League draws in their opening three matches before he was sacked as United manager last October.
Bruno Fernandes started the Europa League tie against FCSB and the United star saw out the full 90 minutes at the National Arena in Bucharest.
Following on from Thursday’s result, the 30-year-old United and Portugal midfielder took to Instagram and sent out a heartfelt message to his daughter.
Fernandes and his wife, Ana Pinho, welcomed their daughter, Matilde, to the world in January 2017 and he was ‘far away’ for her eighth birthday celebrations.
Posting on social media, the United skipper wrote: “Faraway [sic] from you but always with my heart close to yours.
“Soon we’ll celebrate together. Happy birthday, little girl.”
Amorim on Man Utd result vs FCSB
Red Devils manager Amorim insisted that it is “really important” for United to build a “winning” mentality after their last two results across all competitions.
“It’s [becoming] more natural, the feeling of winning,” he said at his post-match press conference, as per Manchester United’s official website.
“That’s really important. You can feel the dressing room is more relaxed but more relaxed in a good way because we know that everything can change on Sunday, but you feel it’s a different environment.
“You want to keep that feeling to work in a better way.”
