Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs has shared his thoughts on the club’s ownership and new head coach Ruben Amorim.
There’s no denying it has been an extremely difficult season for Manchester United – Ruben Amorim will be the first to admit that.
Focus seems to have already shifted to getting things right next season, but Amorim is still busy trying to help players adapt to his style of play.
Amorim held a training session after beating Leicester in his latest attempt to get his ideas across to players. He was given a slight boost over the transfer window with Patrick Dorgu and Ayden Heaven arriving from Lecce and Arsenal respectively, but he has his work cut out to improve the current squad.

Ryan Giggs verdict on Ineos and Ruben Amorim
As United’s record appearance maker and most decorated player of all time, Ryan Giggs is more than qualified to discuss his former club, even if plenty has changed since he left.
He has over 20 years of experience as a player at the club as well as several years of coaching experience under his belt after working under Louis van Gaal and then enjoying a short stint as caretaker boss.
Giggs spoke about United’s current state in a recent ‘An Evening with Ryan Giggs’ event, and he claimed that Amorim will succeed if given time and the right players by Ineos.
As quoted by Manchester Evening News, he said: “Like any business, recruitment needs to be right and it hasn’t been for the last ten years. We’ve just made poor decision after poor decision.
“Now it’s whether Ruben gets the players he needs, the support he needs and the time. We’re in a bad place at the moment but, first of all, I have to say I actually really like the manager.
“I think given a chance and given the time, Amorim will bring success back. If we get the right players in and the manager gets time, we will be alright. But at the moment, we are miles off it. We’re nowhere near – we are a long, long way behind – but it can soon turn around.”

Amorim was given an ultimatum by Ineos in November – to join midway through the season or not at all. It is public knowledge that his preference was to join at the end of the season.
But he has been forced to jump head-first into a sinking ship, and so far it has proved difficult to keep United afloat. Amorim was the first to warn of relegation after a poor run of results.
Ineos’ backing over the winter wasn’t exactly overwhelming. Three senior players left on loan – including Marcus Rashford – and the only incomings were two extremely young defenders.
Amorim wanted to sign a striker, but United did not want to pay Mathys Tel’s loan fee from Bayern Munich, so he was left emptyhanded when the window slammed shut.
The rest of the season will be focused on improving performances and adapting to Amorim’s ideas. After a summer of (hopefully) lots of investment, only then should he be judged.
