Manchester United’s problems continue despite winning six of the past nine games under Ruben Amorim.
As much as results need to improve, it is the performances which are concerning fans right now.
Manchester United snuck through to the FA Cup fifth round thanks to a 93rd-minute winner from Harry Maguire right in front of the Stretford End.
It took a comeback to put United through, with Ruben Amorim seeing his side go into half-time with a 1-0 deficit to overturn.

Amorim took Patrick Dorgu off despite his encouraging performance, with Alejandro Garnacho’s introduction changing United’s fortunes as he offered something different in attack.
Despite this, United were far from good enough and Amorim made this verdict on the performance clear after the game with his words and also actions.

Ruben Amorim puts Manchester United through training after 2-1 win
United did progress through into the FA Cup fifth round, but not in any sort of fashionable manner.
After the game, Amorim told club media that he wasn’t happy with the performance: “The moment is clearly not good enough. It’s a good result. We move forward to the next stage. We have a week to prepare [for our next league game] but today was not a good day.”
Now, according to The Mirror, Amorim’s disappointment led him to conduct a full training session with some players after Friday’s win.
The report claims the club have confirmed this was a full session, as opposed to the standard post-match warm-down, which Amorim decided due to his anger over the performance.
One player to take part was Rasmus Hojlund – who played the entire 90 minutes – but Amorim was clearly far from pleased with his display.
MEN journalist Samuel Luckhurst supported this with a video of the session in action – in which Joshua Zirkzee was also clearly seen.
Changes Amorim needs to make going forward
United’s biggest problem is finishing – with four big chances on Friday night, Amorim’s side should have run away with things.
However, if the players are going to be poor in front of goal, Amorim needs to make changes to ensure United are creating more.
A simple issue of width could be solved by having left-footed Dorgu at left wing-back, and Amad Diallo on the right – with this seeming to be the set-up Amorim wants with Geovany Quenda tipped for the right side this summer.
United must also encourage more bravery from the centre-backs to step into midfield in the absence of Lisandro Martinez.
In the midfield, United also need to get Bruno Fernandes closer to the opposition box, something a high defensive line with centre-backs who are on the ball will encourage.
