Mason Mount’s time at Manchester United has been littered with frustrating injury setbacks.

The 26-year-old has never had the chance to string together a run of games as a Manchester United player, meaning he has never been able to justify his price tag.

United signed Mount for £55m in 2023 but he has only made a total of 32 appearances for the Red Devils, including 12 this season.

Mount suffered an injury against Manchester City after just 12 minutes which has put him back in the treatment room. However, he now appears close to a return with Mount working hard behind the scenes.

Ruben Amorim is a big admirer of Mason Mount and will want him back fit as soon as possible. Selling Mount isn’t really an option, especially as his value has dropped so drastically.

Mason Mount value at Man United drops £20m

When United signed Mount for £55m, they paid for an exciting young midfielder who was becoming a key part of the England setup.

That is not exactly the case 18 months on, and Mount’s new value at Old Trafford reflects his difficult time in Manchester.

According to iNews, Mount is now worth just £35m – a huge £20m drop from the price United paid in 2023.

It means that Mount’s value has dropped over £1m every month since joining United, and that value will continue to drop as his contract ticks down.

Mount’s contract is valid until 2028, so United will hope that he can overcome his injury problems and start fulfilling his potential under Amorim.

Ruben Amorim sees a future at Man United for Mason Mount

Just a week after arriving at Carrington, Amorim confessed his love for Mount, saying “You can look in his eyes that he wants this so bad. And this is the most important thing for me.”

Mount is a perfect fit for Amorim’s 3-4-3 formation having thrived in a similar setup at Chelsea under Thomas Tuchel.

Finding suitable No.10s for Amorim’s system has proven difficult. Amad Diallo has impressed as a No.10 and as a wing-back, while Bruno Fernandes has swapped between an attacking role and a central midfield position.

But Mount has the perfect profile to play behind a central striker in Amorim’s setup. It is clear that the Portuguese coach sees a future for him at Old Trafford, he just has to overcome his recurring injury issues.

Amorim wants to help Mount recover, and if he can get the best out of the former Chelsea star then it could save United from splashing millions in the transfer window.
