Financially, Manchester United are in a precarious position this season with PSR worries dominating discussions over potential January transfer moves.
Ineos has made some bad calls in their opening year at Manchester United, however, the worst of all was the decision to keep Erik ten Hag.
On the face of it, giving a manager who had just lifted the FA Cup was not a terrible move. But beyond this, by keeping Ten Hag and spending £182m on a squad for the Dutchman, it has set the club back years.
Dan Ashworth has taken the fall for this decision, while Ruben Amorim is left picking up the pieces.
Now, in order to balance the books and turn the squad into one Amorim can get the best out of, big sales are expected. Among these could be a player who was Ten Hag’s superstar.

Manchester United willing to sell Alejandro Garnacho
Amorim has been in charge for almost two months, and yet already is making his mark with Marcus Rashford one player he is expected to let go.
Rashford’s sale could raise £400m for United’s PSR books – a move which could solve Ineos’ headache and allow Amorim to be backed sufficiently.

But this is not the only big academy graduate who United could be willing to let go in order to raise funds, with the Daily Mail also tipping Alejandro Garnacho for an exit.
It is explained United would be willing to cash in on Garnacho – who looks to be expendable for Amorim – with the 20-year-old likely to be worth a bigger fee than Rashford.
Garnacho could command a huge fee, while United would also benefit from not having to pay off a huge contract fee.
The winger was Argentina’s second most valuable teenager after Lionel Messi last summer, with a market value of £37m (since risen to £41m or €50m) – a figure likely to be higher should United choose to sell.
Should Manchester United sell Garnacho?
Garnacho is United’s 244th academy graduate, and due to this, it would be disappointing to see him sold this year.
Selling Garnacho would be a decision Gary Neville may be displeased by. Neville loved Garnacho’s Puskas-winning goal and even preferred it to Wayne Rooney’s against Everton.
“I can’t believe it. I don’t think I’ve ever been in a stadium where I’ve seen an overhead kick as good as that, and I was on the pitch for Wayne Rooney’s in the Manchester derby.
“That was unbelievable what we’ve just seen. Wow. that is a magical goal.”
However, despite wanting Garnacho to go on and become a legend at the club, if Amorim doesn’t have a role for him then cashing in now would be wise.
Garnacho is never going to have a value so high, so it could be smart from Ineos.
