Kobbie Mainoo’s bold prediction about Amad Diallo this season has already come true – and then some

Amad Diallo is Manchester United’s crown jewel at the moment. The Ivorian has been simply electric under Ruben Amorim.

Amad’s hat-trick against Southampton is the latest dazzling display the winger has put in for Manchester United – but he’s been doing magical things for the Red Devils all season.

Amad has improved drastically since his Atalanta days, particularly under Ruben Amorim, who has placed significantly more faith in the 22-year-old than former Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag.

Amorim’s trust has been well and truly rewarded, with Amad no doubt United’s player of the campaign so far, and a firm fan favourite. Whilst this may have shocked many United supporters, this will have been no surprise to Kobbie Mainoo.

Kobbie Mainoo knew Amad Diallo was destined for the top

Mainoo, another of United’s young starlets, has always known the quality Amad possesses. At the start of the season, he predicted Amad would ‘break the internet’ and would go into the 24/25 campaign ‘flying’.

Safe to say that’s pretty spot on, with the Ivorian absolutely everywhere, for positive reasons, in the media and on socials.

On the Premier League’s official TikTok account, Mainoo said, “I think Amad will break the internet. He’s got so much quality. I think he will go into the season flying.”

Fans have adorned Amad on socials and pundits have showered him with praise. Gary Neville thinks Amad is a shining light under Amorim – and he’s right.

After fantastic cameos in the FA Cup victory in 2024 for Amad – the player himself also knew it was a big season ahead for him.

The feeling is mutual for Amad and Mainoo

Not only does Mainoo know the qualities that Amad possesses – but the winger also talks a big game about the Englishman.

Amad told Sky Sports in October 2024: “Talking about Kobbie is like talking about a big legend. At his age, he is so good, he is an amazing player, a good person, I’m very close to him. I think he’s going to be one of the best players in Man Utd’s history.”

Amad also spoke about his own ambitions at the club, adding: “[I want] to win more trophies with the club. I want to win a lot, a lot, a lot of trophies, Champions League, Premier League, everything.”

Now Kobbie’s prediction has already surfaced around Amad, but can his own come true? He’s already won the FA Cup.

The Champions League and Premier League seem a little out of reach, but with a player like Amad in United’s first-team squad – anything could truly be possible.
