Kobbie Mainoo sent heartfelt messages to Manchester United fans and one of his fellow teammates after his side’s dramatic comeback win against Aston Villa at Old Trafford.

John McGinn and Leander Dendoncker had fired Villa into a 2-0 lead going into half-time on Tuesday evening, with United facing an uphill task in the second half.

However, Erik ten Hag’s men effectively managed to rally back into the Premier League contest after the break thanks to a stunning brace from Alejandro Garnacho.

Rasmus Hojlund then broke his long-running goalscoring drought in the Premier League with a fine finish in the 82nd minute and sealed a sensational win for United.

Ten Hag appeared relieved after United mounted a successful comeback in their last match at Old Trafford in 2023, with the Red Devils clinching three crucial points.

United are in sixth place after 19 Premier League fixtures and they are five points adrift of fourth-place Tottenham, who have a match in hand over the Red Devils.

Mainoo’s message to United fans

Mainoo, who has had a remarkable season in the United first team, started alongside Christian Eriksen in midfield for the Boxing Day clash against Villa at home.

The 18-year-old United midfielder impressed in the 2-0 defeat to West Ham at the London Stadium on Saturday, despite making a big mistake against the Hammers.

However, Ten Hag kept faith in Mainoo and the highly rated United prospect retained his place in the starting XI for the Premier League match against Villa.

Mainoo once again showed his cool and calm composure in midfield, with the England Under-19s international earning rave reviews from fans for his display.

Following on from United’s 3-2 comeback win against Villa, Mainoo took to Instagram and sent an important message to Red Devils supporters.

Posting to his 834k followers, he wrote in an Instagram post: “We’ll never die.”

Mainoo, whose reaction to his first-team emergence has been revealed, also took to Instagram Stories to send another clear-cut message to United fans.

“Keep the red flag flying high,” he added.

Mainoo’s message to United teammate Hojlund

Hojlund, who was signed in the summer, was left frustrated over his start to life at Old Trafford after failing to score in his first 14 Premier League matches for United.

Despite his goalscoring drought in the Premier League, Ten Hag kept faith in the 20-year-old striker and Hojlund repaid the Dutchman with the winner against Villa.

“I have had several talks with him [Hojlund],” Ten Hag said after the match (via Sky Sports).

“I pointed out that you scored for Denmark a lot, you scored in the Champions League, you have demonstrated the ability, so you can do it. Believe in it and it will come.

“I am sure now the first goal is in he will get more.”

Hojlund appeared relieved after scoring against Villa and fans were happy for the United star, with even Mainoo sending his teammate a heartfelt message.

Posting on Instagram Stories, Mainoo wrote: “My guyyy!”
