Manchester United striker Rasmus Hojlund ended his Premier League goal drought with a vital goal against Aston Villa.

A goal for Rasmus Hojlund was on every Manchester United fan’s Christmas list.

It came in the 82nd minute against Aston Villa, sealing an impressive comeback in a 3-2 victory.

For Hojlund it ended his long wait for a Premier League goal since his summer arrival, and the relief on his face was plain to see.

Hojlund message

An emotional Rasmus Hojlund sent a message on Instagram after the victory, expressing his happiness at scoring the winning goal.

He paid tribute to supporters, writing: “What a comeback guys🤩 Thanks for the support towards me and the team today. You deserved this! @manchesterunited ❤️”

Tributes to Hojlund roll in

The tributes to Hojlund’s performance came in quickly, with Mason Mount among those to praise him on social media.

Former star Rio Ferdinand sent a message to Hojlund in response, writing: “So happy for you. Keep that feeling inside and use as fuel.”

Teammate Sergio Reguilon added: “So happy for you.”

Kobbie Mainoo also posted a picture of Hojlund on his Instagram feed, writing: “My guyyy.”

Jonny Evans also added: “We all love a stretford end comeback!! Congrats @rasmus.hoejlund on the winner. Well deserved big man.”

Evans has seen his share of winning goals at United through the years, and he will know this is just the start for Hojlund.

The whole team gathered around Hojlund to celebrate his goal, with Andre Onana running the length of the pitch to join in the big moment.
