Manchester United talent Jesse Lingard was back in action for England after a hiatus from the international side of nearly two years.
Lingard’s previous appearance for England was in June 2019 against Switzerland.
Tonight he was a starter as England thrashed San Marino 5-0, and he provided an assist in the win.

Lingard sent out a message after the match, expressing his happiness at making his international comeback.
He appreciated the ‘long journey’ he has been on to get back to this point.
Lingard’s recent success has come after he was loaned out to West Ham in January.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer did not select him for a single Premier League game in the first half of the season.
Lingard has five goals in seven matches for West Ham and has fully earned his international call-up.
The postponed European Championships have worked out well for Lingard.
If they took place last summer, he would have missed out entirely as his role at United had been reduced, and he had been out of the England squad since 2019.
Now with the tournament taking place in 2021, Lingard’s return to form is impeccably timed.
The 28-year-old tried desperately to score against San Marino and could not find the breakthrough, but did assist a goal for Dominic Calvert-Lewin in the 5-0 win.
It’s good to see Lingard happy again and playing good football, whatever his future holds.
