Manchester United fans were glad to see the back of Jadon Sancho in the summer when a deadline day deal was agreed with Chelsea.

At Manchester United, Sancho was a major disappointment. He was not the game-changing winger United required him to be, and this was a problem long before his fallout with manager Erik ten Hag.

Now at Chelsea on loan with an obligation to buy, a hot start at Stamford Bridge for Sancho did not convince many United fans, who just decided to wait for the winger’s flaws to re-emerge.

And it seems the Jadon Sancho honeymoon is already rapidly wearing off.

Jadon Sancho is regular starter for Chelsea, however, his most recent start did not go well at all.

Sancho was hooked at half-time in Chelsea’s defeat to Liverpool, without creating any goalscoring chances.

And after his performance, a stinging editorial in The Times has taken aim at his performance.

Sancho is compared to a ‘dressage horse’, branded as ‘predictable, placid and almost polite’ in his lack of explosiveness.

The article writes: “It wasn’t just that Sancho’s forays ended in blind alleys or backward passes, slowing Chelsea in moments when they sought an injection of tempo and intensity; there were times when his ineffectiveness actually rebounded on his team.”

It is suggested Sancho’s game is fundamentally flawed to the point where defenders can figure him out, as Trent Alexander-Arnold managed to for Liverpool at the weekend.

This followed Tony Cascarino labelling Sancho as ‘too easy to play against’ earlier in the month after his performance for Chelsea against Nottingham Forest.

While Chelsea fans were pleased with Sancho’s start, the winger’s past couple of games are more like what Manchester United fans became accustomed to.

Jadon Sancho scored 12 goals in 83 games for Manchester United and failed to live up to the hype.

United fans wanted to see Sancho taking players on, electrifying the crowd, and creating goalscoring chances. This rarely happened.

Now at Chelsea, Sancho has a chance to start afresh, but his same flaws are re-emerging.

While the £25 million sale figure for Sancho seems low in comparison to the £73 million United paid for his services, it may be a more accurate representation of his value.
