Lisandro Martinez suffered an ACL injury against Crystal Palace and after undergoing surgery, he is expected to miss several months, including the start of next season.

A triple injury blow in midfield followed, with Kobbie Mainoo ruled out for up to six weeks. Then it was confirmed that Amad Diallo’s season is over following ankle ligament damage in training.

United’s injury problems were laid bare on Sunday afternoon when Amorim named seven academy stars on the bench against Spurs. Chido Obi made his debut as the only substitute made by Amorim.

United’s injury problems extend beyond just outfield players, with Amorim’s goalkeeping department also struggling.

Altay Bayindir and Tom Heaton suffered injuries that ruled them out of the FA Cup clash against Leicester City. Bayindir likely would have started in that match if fit.

Before the Leicester match, Amorim confirmed: “Altay, I think, he has a problem. So he is not available for the game.”

However, it seems Bayindir is nearing a return to full fitness after publishing a recovery video on social media.

Bayindir released a video of him training hard at Carrington, suggesting his return to the first team is imminent.

United resume their FA Cup campaign on March 2nd when they face Fulham in the fifth round. The Turkish shot-stopper will likely make his return then.

When are Man United players expected to return from injury?

While Amorim promised to give United’s academy stars more game time, he will desperately want his first-team players back available to end the poor run of results.

Thankfully, Bayindir is not the only player closing in on a return. Christian Eriksen and Leny Yoro missed the Tottenham clash through illness, but Amorim is confident both will return for the trip to Everton.

It has been over one year since Luke Shaw started for United, but the left-back is back in training and should be available shortly. However, Amorim insists United are being “careful” about his return.

Mason Mount is continuing to recover from a thigh injury suffered against Manchester City. Mount has been pictured recovering as he looks to get his career back on track.
