Four Man United starters in 4-0 win over Everton are no longer available to Ruben Amorim

Manchester United’s biggest win under Ruben Amorim came back in December against Everton.

During the December meeting, Manchester United beat Everton 4-0 at Old Trafford with Marcus Rashford and Joshua Zirkzee both scoring a brace.

It was after that win that Ruben Amorim warned a “storm will come”, and he was certainly not wrong.

United have only won three Premier League matches since beating the Toffees and have dropped to 15th in the Premier League table.

After United lost 1-0 to Tottenham on Sunday afternoon, Amorim will hope that his side can bounce back at Goodison Park. However, Amorim’s side will look very different to the one that beat Everton in December.

Ruben Amorim without four starters vs Everton

Everton’s visit to Old Trafford was just Amorim’s third match in charge as United head coach.

Here is the lineup Amorim went with for United’s 4-0 win over Everton:

Lining up in Amorim’s favoured 3-4-2-1 formation, the Portuguese head coach started with a back three of Noussair Mazraoui, Matthijs de Ligt and Lisandro Martinez.

Unfortunately for Amorim, Martinez has suffered an ACL injury and is set to be sidelined for several months. Amad Diallo’s season is also over following an ankle injury in training. He started against Everton at right wing-back.

To add to Amorim’s woes, Kobbie Mainoo is set to miss around six weeks with a muscle injury so will miss Saturday’s clash against Everton. He started alongside Casemiro in midfield in the last meeting.

The two goals Rashford scored against Everton could prove to be his last in a Manchester United shirt. Rashford was dropped from Amorim’s squad just two weeks after the win against The Toffees.

Rashford has since joined Aston Villa on loan so while United are facing Everton, he will be preparing for Villa’s clash against Chelsea later in the day.

Man United duo expected to return for Everton clash

It is not all doom and gloom on the team news front, however, with two players expected to return after missing the Tottenham defeat.

Leny Yoro and Christian Eriksen missed out through illness, and Amorim is hopeful that they can feature against Everton on Saturday.

Midfield duo Manuel Ugarte and Toby Collyer also had minor knocks – Amorim will likely confirm later this week whether either of them have returned to full fitness.

Amorim also made it clear that the seven academy stars on the bench against Spurs will get their opportunity to play this season – several youngsters could be featured again at Goodison Park.
