Ruben Amorim’s comments about his Manchester United squad following the Brighton defeat caused quite a stir.

The Manchester United head coach was visibly frustrated after watching his side lose their 10th Premier League game of the season last week.

Ruben Amorim had a heated dressing room outburst after the 3-1 defeat to Brighton with the Portuguese coach reportedly breaking a TV in the process. Just moments later, he attended his post-match press conference where he did not hold back on his players.

An emotional Ruben Amorim told reporters this is the worst United side in club history. His full quote read: “We are being the worst team maybe in the history of Manchester United.”

According to reports, players are unhappy with Amorim’s comments and club co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe has now made his stance clear.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s stance on Ruben Amorim comments

Amorim has warned of relegation this season so it is no surprise that he is trying to trigger an emotional reaction from his players.

Perhaps upsetting his players is exactly what Amorim intended to do. Performances have been unforgivable and ultimately he will pay the price if results don’t improve.

According to The Guardian, Ratcliffe has “no concerns” over Amorim’s remark following the Brighton defeat.

The British billionaire is not worried that it will cause players to lose faith in the Portuguese head coach. The report claims that Ratcliffe’s view is that the squad understands Amorim has a fierce desire to win and that he can be passionate. He is confident the outburst will quickly be forgotten.

Amorim’s friends admit he can “explode” with anger and United players got their first taste of that last week. Hopefully, it encouraged the squad to avoid facing his wrath again.

Ruben Amorim will demand improvement vs Fulham

United returned to winning ways with a 2-1 win over Rangers in the Europa League, but the performance was still far from convincing.

The Red Devils came within minutes of fumbling three important points before Bruno Fernandes scored a late winner. Amorim will demand a better performance at Craven Cottage on Sunday evening.

Amorim’s home record with United has been poor, with the Red Devils boss claiming his side are finding it difficult to pick up results at Old Trafford. The last two away trips saw United pick up good results against Liverpool and Arsenal.

After rotating against Rangers, Amorim is expected to make changes against Fulham and he will want to see a response from several key players who were dropped from the European clash.
