What Ruben Amorim did in Man Utd dressing room after Brighton shocked players, it’s been likened to Fergie’s hairdryer treatment

Manchester United suffered yet another defeat against Brighton and Hove Albion on Sunday.

Brighton have a superb head-to-head record against United. The Seagulls have beaten the Red Devils six times in their last seven Premier League meetings.

United now sit 13th in the table with Sunday’s damaging 3-1 result just the latest in a string of horrendous performances.

Defeat at Old Trafford last weekend prompted Ruben Amorim to say this United team are ‘the worst in the club’s history’.

The United manager’s anger and disappointment were on full display before he went in front of the media, though.

Furious Ruben Amorim damages Man United dressing room

Although usually quiet following a defeat, Amorim, who prefers to address his team’s failings the day after a poor result, unleashed fury immediately after Brighton’s win.

According to The Athletic, the Portuguese boss was so angry with his side’s performance and lacklustre showing that he ‘showed his frustrations physically’.

A dressing room TV used to display match tactics got caught in the crossfire and now needs to be repaired ahead of the side’s Europa League home game against Rangers on Thursday.

Amorim’s out-of-character post-match reaction left several players stunned with many not expecting that type of response from the usually-level-headed 39-year-old.

Back to the future

Although the game has changed since the days of Sir Alex Ferguson, fans will probably love hearing Amorim behaved like the legendary former manager used to.

Ferguson’s hairdryer treatments became part of his management and being on the receiving end of them was something every player feared.

Even though Amorim’s stature in the game is no where near what Ferguson’s was, it seems his anger can have a similar effect.

The soft approach hasn’t worked with this group of players, and with just 10 points separating them from the relegation zone, now is the time to get angry.

If the player’s ability won’t win games, maybe their fear of losing them will.
