Manchester United are expected to imminently announce the departure of defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s sale facilitated the arrival of new signing Noussair Mazraoui, and more exits are

More departures could play a key role in extra new incomings, boosting the club’s remaining transfer budget.

We have taken a look at the five most likely Manchester United players to leave after Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

Hannibal Mejbri

Hannibal Mejbri is one of the Manchester United players on this list into the final 12 months of his contract. There is no extra year’s option remaining.

Hannibal did feature in pre-season but was omitted for United’s final game. He was then left out of the squad for the Community Shield.

The Tunisian is on record saying he wants to play regular football. His loan at Sevilla was a disaster which has reduced the market for his services.

United will have to settle for a small fee, potentially with an extra sell-on clause. Once one of the most promising prospects at the club, Hannibal’s departure before the deadline is almost a certainty, one way or another.

Victor Lindelof

Sweden’s international captain is now fourth or fifth choice at Manchester United and started only 14 Premier League games last season.

Fitness issues have plagued him in 2024, at the end of last season and through pre-season. Victor Lindelof is one of United’s longest serving players and needs a fresh start.

Similar to Hannibal, Lindelof’s contract is now into the final 12 months with a one-year extension triggered earlier this year.

Matthijs de Ligt’s arrival makes it almost certain Lindelof will leave, with interest rising in his services, The Mail report.

Facundo Pellistri

Facundo Pellistri was used as an emergency right-back in the Community Shield but don’t expect to ever see that again.

Pellistri has never quite been able to win over Erik ten Hag, and Amad’s rise and Jadon Sancho’s re-integration means the Uruguayan will find competition for places tougher than ever.

The loans United have sent him on have done him few favours, but there is now interest from Champions League side Bologna in his services.

Pellistri’s deal expires in 2025, but United do have an option to extend to 2026. So another loan is possible, but if United get a decent offer, it makes plenty of sense to cash in now, with a sell-on clause.

Christian Eriksen

Christian Eriksen is into the final year of his Manchester United deal and there is no further option to extend his contract.

The Dane says he wants to stay at United, but being left out of the opening games of the season could wake him up a little.

Eriksen did not get any minutes against City in the Community Shield, and there is a real chance he is also an unused substitute in United’s opening fixtures against Fulham and Brighton.

His departure could free up an additional squad space for an extra midfielder to join the club.

Scott McTominay

There have been mixed messages about Scott McTominay’s future at Manchester United, after two offers from Fulham were rejected.

United would consider a bid of £30 million, Fabrizio Romano reported on X, but so far nobody has met the club’s asking price.

McTominay is keen to stay at United, he is content with his squad player role and Erik ten Hag believes he is an interesting player.

However, a team may meet United’s asking price before the transfer deadline, and the funds could help the club’s own late incoming transfer business. Selling an academy player is beneficial for PSR, which could also come into the club’s thinking, if a suitable offer comes in.
