Manchester United are inching closer to adding two more players to the squad after agreeing deals for Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui.
The Bayern Munich pair’s medicals are scheduled today (August 11) and an official announcement is likely to follow before the end of the week.
In fact, with the pace at which the deal is moving, United might repeat their Raphael Varane trick and introduce the pair ahead of the Premier League fixture against Fulham on Friday.
Once they complete their medicals, only the completion of signing activities like interview/media will remain and in the meantime, De Ligt has sent a message that will excite United fans.

De Ligt is traveling to Manchester from Munich today to complete his medical and he was recently captured at Munich airport departing for Manchester.
The Dutchman is signing a contract till 2029 with an option for another year, similar to Mazraoui, who was also at the airport with De Ligt.
When asked to give his thoughts on the move at the airport, De Ligt closed the conversation in just a hilarious five-word quip, saying: “Noussair is waiting for me!”.

United have likely booked double medical for them as even though the deals ended up being separate, they went through at the same time.
Therefore, the pair is departing together and could be confirmed in the next few days with the fans excited at the prospect.
Much needed boost
There is a feeling of positivity surrounding Man United this summer due to the large-scale changes brought about by Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Co.
On the pitch too, performances have improved and the only dampener on proceedings have been the injuries to some key players.
De Ligt and Mazraoui’s arrival will soothe the concern over those defensive injuries at least. If their move is confirmed before Friday (PL opener), then it won’t be a surprise for both to be thrown straight at the deep end, if only from the bench.
De Ligt, especially, has the potential to become first-choice immediately instead of a squad option, while Mazraoui will provided much-needed depth on either wing.
These are exciting times for United and as Mazraoui is waiting for De Ligt, fans are waiting for both to sign and impress!
