Fabrizio Romano has provided an important update on Manchester United’s position over Scott McTominay amid fierce transfer interest from three different clubs.
Scott McTominay has been an important first-team player under Erik ten Hag and secured regular playing time under the Manchester United manager.
The 27-year-old United midfielder managed 18 Premier League starts in 32 appearances last season, with McTominay scoring seven times for the club.
However, McTominay is out of contract with United next summer and the Scotland international has been tipped with an exit from Old Trafford.
Erik ten Hag has spoken highly of McTominay and the impact that the Scottish midfielder brings to his squad, despite the transfer interest surrounding the player.

Romano talks Man Utd and McTominay
According to The Guardian, Fulham have upped their pursuit of Scott McTominay and tabled an improved offer of ‘about £20m.’
The Red Devils rejected an initial £15m offer from Fulham for McTominay, who has also been linked with Turkish sides Fenerbahce and Galatasaray.
Former Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho is currently in charge of Fenerbahce and was a big fan of McTominay during his spell at Old Trafford.
McTominay faces increasing competition at United next season, with Mason Mount and Bruno Fernandes both preferred ahead of him in the No 10 role.
Fabrizio Romano on social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, has revealed that United are keen to secure a “£30m package” for McTominay.
“Manchester United remain open to selling Scott McTominay if proposals will go up to £30m package,” he said.
“It could be crucial to bring in new midfielder. Fulham want to insist and push to make it happen.”
Ten Hag on Man Utd star McTominay
McTominay was heavily linked with a move away from Old Trafford last summer, with West Ham making an offer for the Scotland star in 2023.
However, United rejected a £30m move for McTominay – the same fee they want for the player now – and the Red Devils star remained at the Premier League club.
Speaking from United’s UCLA training base on Thursday, Ten Hag talked up the importance of McTominay in his first-team squad at United.
“I’m so pleased with the performance from Scott McTominay and so pleased to have him in my squad, for the type of person he is,” he said at a press conference on Thursday.
“He has such an impact on this team with his performance and team spirit. Of course, now we play him in a more advanced position, which suits him much better.
“He is so important in making goals for our team and I’m very pleased to work with him and have him in our squad.”
