Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has dropped a telling update on a key first-team Manchester United player under Erik ten Hag at Old Trafford.
Manchester United will kick off their 2024-25 Premier League campaign on Friday when they welcome Fulham to Old Trafford.
Erik ten Hag is set to take charge of United for his third season after the 54-year-old Dutchman signed a new contract extension with the Red Devils.
The United manager will be hopeful of seeing a major improvement in the Red Devils’ Premier League campaign after a lacklustre season.
Ten Hag oversaw United’s worst finish in the Premier League era, with the Red Devils limping to an eighth-place finish in the 2023-24 season.
Ahead of the new Premier League season, United suffered a penalty shootout defeat to Manchester City in the Community Shield at Wembley on Saturday.

Romano’s update on Man Utd star
Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Bruno Fernandes remains an integral part of Manchester United’s plans and is a “really important player” for the club.
The Italian reporter on Sunday confirmed that United had ‘reached an agreement’ with Bruno Fernandes over a new contract ahead of the new season.
According to Romano, Fernandes’ new deal would run until June 2027 and United have the option to extend his contract by a further year.
The transfer expert on social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, added that the 29-year-old United midfielder would see his salary at the ‘top’ level.
Romano has now doubled down on his position over Fernandes and that a deal between both parties over a new contract is ‘100 per cent done.’
“Bruno Fernandes will sign a new contract,” he told GiveMeSport.
“The deal is 100% done and it will be valid until 2027 plus a one-year option.
“I expect him to sign very soon, before the end of the summer transfer window. And Bruno will remain a really important player for Manchester United.”
Ten Hag to use Fernandes in different roles
Bruno Fernandes ascended to the United captaincy under Erik ten Hag in 2023 after England star Harry Maguire was stripped of the club’s armband.
Ten Hag has seen the arrival of Joshua Zirkzee from Bologna this summer as another forward option, but the United boss has lost Rasmus Hojlund to injury.
The Dutchman has admitted that Jadon Sancho and Bruno Fernandes could be used as makeshift strikers in the absence of Rasmus Hojlund.
“I think Marcus [Rashford] has done it before, he can do it and it is definitely an option,” Ten Hag said, as per The Athletic.
“But I think he is more productive from the left inside, when he is coming inside, so when he can arrive there, he is most effective.
“But we also have Bruno Fernandes as a striker as well.”
