Manchester United are not just moving to sign new players in this window, but they’ve also managed to secure the future of the key player in their ranks- Bruno Fernandes.
The mood is positive in the United camp right now as, despite the defeat to Man City in the Community Shield final, the performance was encouraging.
Add to that the double swoop for Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui being completed, and it all amounted to a good day at the beach.
The good news now keeps on coming as Bruno Fernandes looks to have put pen to paper on a new contract at Old Trafford.

Bruno Fernandes contract extension
Fabrizio Romano reports that Man United have reached an agreement to extend Bruno Fernandes’ contract at the club.
His earlier contract was set to expire in 2026, with the club holding an option to extend it by a year.
Under the new contract, the term has been further extended by a year, with the contract now expiring in 2027 with the club holding the option to extend it to 2028.
Romano also adds that the extension brings him in line with the top earners at the club. It is fair to assume it is a hefty pay rise over the current terms, close to £220k/week.

The top earners at United earn north of £300k/week, with Marcus Rashford and Casemiro among the names so Fernandes definitely deserves to be alongside them.
The report states that the announcement will be made before the end of the transfer window.
A statement of intent amid interest
Despite always being committed to the club, the rumours of potential interest in him had refused to go away, with Saudi clubs particularly interested.
The club, manager, and the player himself have played down these rumours but there was a statement of intent needed in the public.
Not just because of his performances, but Fernandes has deserved to be alongside the top earners at the club due to his sheer professionalism and commitment for the club.
He was recently deemed “majestic” by Rio Ferdinand for his performance in the Community Shield Final.
Even when United have struggled as a whole, Fernandes has been one of the few reliable members of the team who can always be trusted to at least give his all, regardless of the output.
That is a mentality which needs to seep into the rest of the locker room and now with the captain tied to the club for the foreseeable future, the job begins to load his trophy cabinet with more honours.
