Manchester United are closing in on a move for Raphael Varane. And Bruno Fernandes appears to be just as excited as all of us.
Last night Fabrizio Romano reported United are close to submitting a bid for Varane, and are confident it will succeed.
This backed up a report from Le Parisien that a deal could be done this week with Manchester United and Real Madrid closing in on an agreement.
Just over 22 minutes after Romano’s update, Bruno Fernandes posted this message on Twitter. He certainly looks happy with a potential deal for Varane.
Fernandes has already given his verdict on Jadon Sancho’s arrival at the club, welcoming the winger to Manchester United last week.
So his latest message was clearly referencing the latest reports regarding Varane.
We can all remember when Bruno’s transfer saga was the one Manchester United fans were hanging on. This did not work out in 2019, and thankfully did six months later.
The Varane deal has taken even longer. United tried to sign Varane in 2011, failed, and now may finally get him in 2021. It should be worth the wait.
During that time Varane has grown into one of the world’s best defenders, winning the World Cup, and is a four times Champions League winner.
With United’s defence bolstered, the whole team will be better off. No wonder Bruno Fernandes is excited. He is expected back at Carrington for pre-season today.
