Ruben Amorim might be about to do Man Utd a big favour by taking the AC Milan job this summer.

Since getting sacked by Man Utd in January after burning all bridges publicly, Man Utd fans haven’t heard from Ruben Amorim.

They might see him straight away instead of hearing from him, as he’s close to taking over AC Milan.

United will be delighted with this news because it means he’ll save United millions in a crucial transfer window.

Man Utd’s boost from Ruben Amorim joining AC Milan

In their latest accounts filing, United revealed that they will pay up to £15.9m to sack Amorim and all the staff accompanying him.

However, that figure was the ceiling of what they could pay at a maximum, in a scenario where he sees out his Man Utd contract without taking a job elsewhere.

Now that he looks set to take over at Milan, the rest of the remaining time on his contract will become null and void.

As soon as he signs a deal at the Italian club, United can stop paying him compensation money, and as per The Telegraph, that amounts to close to £6.5m in savings.

That figure comes due to Amorim taking a new job a year before his United contract expires, where he earned close to £6.5m/year.

Depending upon how many of his United staff he takes to Milan, that figure will increase, as United can then stop paying them too.

It’s fair to assume that the likes of Adelio Candido and Carlos Fernandes will move, as they have throughout Amorim’s career.

When all is said and done, that saving could easily go up to £9-10m, which is a huge boost to United’s finances at a time when they’ve restructured their debt.

Ask some fans, and they might just say that this is the best thing Amorim has done for United!
