A tough season for Anthony Martial ended badly with the Frenchman suffering an injury which ruled him out of Euro 2020.

After scoring only seven goals for Manchester United last season, there has been some speculation over his future at the club.

ESPN reported on Friday that Martial could be sold this summer.

Martial is on holiday at present amid pre-season and he is not allowing such speculation to drag him down, nor any negativity amid his injury costing him at Euro 2020 spot.

He sent a message out saying he is focused on ‘good vibes’ along with a picture of him smiling, something we did not see enough of last season.

A fresh start

United are not actively looking to sell Martial. It would not make sense without a replacement.

While he has lost his starting spot to Edinson Cavani, the Uruguayan is 34 and has just one year on his contract.

A future is there for Martial if he steps up, and there will be plenty of opportunities for a player who scored 23 goals in 2019/20.

What ESPN‘s report said was that United would consider a sale if a high bid came in. And that would be reasonable. It’s unlikely though that after a poor season, there will be many clubs looking to offer a £40 million fee.

Martial was spotted working out while in Greece last week on his holiday and will return to pre-season early. Cavani is still in Brazil for the Copa America.

The Frenchman could start the season as United’s first choice striker and if he has the right attitude, he has a chance. If he focuses on positive goals like this and shuts out the noises suggesting he could be sold, then we may see a refreshed Martial ready to prove his doubters wrong.
