Amad Diallo enjoyed one of the best moments of his career with a hat-trick for Manchester United.

For any player to score a hat-trick for Manchester United is special. To do it at Old Trafford, at the Stretford End, with all three goals in the last 10 minutes, it’s the stuff dreams are made of.

Amad’s Theatre of Dreams became his reality, a playground in the final part of the game against Southampton, that looked like a nightmare for the best part of 80 minutes, with United trailing.

With a little help from his teammates, with Ruben Amorim making five substitutions, United took control of the game and Amad did the rest, with Manchester United closing out a 3-1 win over Southampton.

Amad Diallo celebrates hat-trick

Amad Diallo became the first Manchester United player to score a hat-trick since Cristiano Ronaldo, against Norwich City in 2022.

Ronaldo had previously bagged a hat-trick at home to Tottenham just a week earlier.

Prior to that, United’s last hat-trick scorer in the Premier League was Anthony Martial against Sheffield United, with Marcus Rashford also bagging one against RB Leipzig.

Now it’s Amad’s turn, and he was full of confidence after the win over Southampton, helping keep the team’s momentum in 2025.

Amad’s post-match message on Instagram was simple – a picture of him without any words, holding the man of the match trophy aloft. The image said it all.

Responses to Amad

Amad Diallo’s post drew responses from his Manchester United teammates – and a former one.

Antony was among those to congratulate him, while captain Bruno Fernandes wrote ‘Bravo piccolo’, commending his teammate.

Former teammate Brandon Williams wrote simply, ‘Some boy’, while Joshua Zirkzee joked ‘Show off bro’, in response to his picture.

And if he was showing off, you can’t blame him. These nights are special.

Amad is now Manchester United’s top scorer for the season with nine goals, he also has seven assists.

Up next is a match at home to Brighton, the team against who Amad scored his first goal of the season back in August.

And then next week in the Europa League, United host Rangers, Amad’s former team where he had a mixed time on loan, and can show them how far he has come – after also scoring against them in pre-season.
