Manchester United’s 3-1 win over Southampton had no shortage of drama.
Ruben Amorim will be happy to see Manchester United get back to winning ways in the Premier League, although the performance against Southampton raises more questions than answers.
Southampton were on top for most of the game after scoring the opener before the break, but United never came up, as they showed by coming from behind to clinch three points.
Andre Onana made three stunning saves in the first-half and was unlucky not to come away from the game with another clean sheet, but he will be happy that his team-mates were able to turn the screw in the end.
The win moves United up to 12th in the Premier League, with more work to be done if the Reds are to climb into the top half of the table.

Amad Diallo stuns Southampton
A 12-minute hat-trick from Amad Diallo sealed the win for United as he became the second youngest player for the club to score three goals in one match after Wayne Rooney.
It was the first hat-trick scored by a United player since Cristiano Ronaldo netted three times in a 3-2 win over Norwich back in 2022. That was Ronaldo’s 50th career hat-trick which means Amad has some catching up to do if he plans to reach those records.
The win didn’t seem likely for 80 minutes, but Amad inspired a stunning comeback on a night United desperately needed a win.
Amad will get to bring home the match ball after a memorable display.
It wasn’t the first time in recent weeks that Amorim saw Amad snatch vital goals. The 22-year-old scored in last month’s win at Manchester City and draw at Liverpool.
Amad tops Manchester United goalscoring charts
Amad has become United’s top scorer in the Premier League with his hat-trick against Southampton.
The Ivorian’s third goal tonight was his 6th goal in the league this season, which is a decent record on top of six assists.
| Amad Diallo | 6 |
| Bruno Fernandes | 4 |
| Marcus Rashford | 4 |
| Alejandro Garnacho | 3 |
| Joshua Zirkzee | 3 |
After signing a new deal at Old Trafford, Amad is becoming a star at United and one of the first names on Amorim’s teamsheet.
