Rhys Bennett on his qualities
Rhys Bennett spoke to Fleetwood Town’s official website after the loan deal was confirmed. He has been handed the club’s number 15 shirt.
Bennett spoke about his experience playing in front of 70,000 fans in the FA Youth Cup Final, in which he captained the team, describing it as ‘massive’ in his development.
Asked about his qualities, Bennett explained: “I’m definitely aggressive, I love defending, the main thing for me is I do love defending and I want to keep clean sheets.
“I want to go and win all my individual battles, and support my teammates.”
Bennett will be playing under former Premier League midfielder Charlie Adam, who has so far overseen an unbeaten start to the season during their opening three matches.
Rhys Bennett’s second loan
Rhys Bennett spent the second half of last season on loan at Stockport County, but struggled for game time at a side who clinched promotion.
He admits it was far from ideal, but he also found it to be an enriching experience overall.
Bennett explained: “For me it didn’t go the way I wanted it to, I wanted to play games. Joining in January was tough, they were top of the league, so it was maybe a bit ambitious, but at the end of the day its one of those where I got everything out of it I could.
“Day in day out in training being around a promotion winning side, it was another massive experience. I took away a lot of positives from it.”
Now he is looking forward to a fresh start, adding: “I’m absolutely buzzing, I’m so excited to get on the pitch and play in front of the fans. I’m ready to go now.”
