Alejandro Garnacho shared an emotionally charged message with Manchester United fans after the 2-1 win over Rangers in the Europa League on Thursday evening.

Manchester United strengthened their position in reaching the knockout stages of the Europa League with their latest result in UEFA’s second-tier club competitions.

The Red Devils are fourth in the Europa League table and United are one point behind third-place Athletic Bilbao and second-place Eintracht Frankfurt.

Ruben Amorim’s men have only one match remaining in the league phase format of the Europa League, which was introduced by UEFA for the 2024-25 campaign.

United will be certain to reach the last 16 of the Europa League should they beat Romanian outfit FCSB away from home next week.

The Red Devils’ best hopes of securing progression to the Champions League for next season is through the Europa League amid their poor Premier League form.

Garnacho drops message to Man Utd fans

Manchester United have won their last four Europa League matches since Ruben Amorim arrived as Red Devils manager from Sporting CP in 2024.

Erik ten Hag picked up three Europa League draws in a row in United’s European campaign earlier this season before the Dutchman was sacked last October.

United returned to winning ways against Rangers after dropping valuable Premier League points in their 3-1 defeat to Brighton at Old Trafford last weekend.

The Red Devils took the lead in the second half after Jack Butland put the ball in the back of his own net before Rangers found an equaliser in the 88th minute.

However, Bruno Fernandes cancelled out Cyriel Dessers’ equaliser during injury time after the United captain netted the winner against Rangers at Old Trafford.

Alejandro Garnacho saw out the full 90 minutes in the Europa League clash and the United winger failed to capitalise on his own chances against Rangers.

The 20-year-old Spain-born attacker produced a strong showing for United, despite failing to score for the Red Devils.

Garnacho, who has been linked with Napoli and Chelsea in recent weeks, took to Instagram and praised the team’s “strong” showing in the Europa League.

“Strong team performance,” he wrote.

“Thank you, Old Trafford.”

Amorim talks Garnacho’s future

Garnacho’s future at Old Trafford has been plunged into doubt and United have hinted that they would be willing to sell the winger if the right offer was made.

The Argentina international has been a fan favourite for United supporters and was a key first-team player under former Red Devils boss Erik ten Hag.

However, Amorim has not relied on Garnacho in the same way as Ten Hag and the United star has been linked with clubs in Europe amid uncertainty around his future.

Speaking after the Rangers match, Amorim was asked about the future of Garnacho and the United manager offered his two cents on the Argentina winger.

“I am focused on the games and he is here, he is here playing for Manchester United,” he said, as per Manchester United’s official website.

“He was really important for us today so let’s see in the next days.”
