How Alejandro Garnacho feels about joining Chelsea as Man Utd prepare for crunch transfer talks

Manchester United are simultaneously working on multiple transfer deals. The Red Devils are shaping up to be one of the January window’s busiest clubs.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe has his work cut out to comply with the Premier League’s rules on Profit and Sustainability (PSR). The British billionaire needs to sell at least one high-value player.

Although he wants the move, Barcelona are unable to sign Marcus Rashford due to limited spaces in their roster.

Alejandro Garnacho, however, is much more likely to leave Old Trafford before the February 3rd deadline.

How Alejandro Garnacho feels about Chelsea transfer

Garnacho has already agreed personal terms with Napoli but a deal has failed to progress as the Italians would’ve hoped.

This has alerted Chelsea to the situation. The Blues want to capitalise on Napoli’s stalled talks and bring the young Argentine to London instead.

According to Ben Jacobs, Garnacho is “keen on a move to Stamford Bridge”.

Feelings about the 20-year-old leaving Old Trafford being a matter of when, not if, will now be widespread.

Garnacho’s proposed transfer to Chelsea could see him reunited with former teammate Jadon Sancho.

The English winger left United and joined Chelsea on loan in the summer but the Blues’ agreement includes a mandatory option to buy at the end of the season.

Garnacho wants Premier League stay

Even though he has the chance to join the Serie A leaders, and potentially lift the first major European title of his career, according to Gaston Edul, Garnacho’s preference is to remain in the Premier League.

Very much a confidence player and one who thrives off being the centre of attention, Garnacho’s desire to continue in the world’s most-watched league is probably the least surprising thing about his exit links.

Although many fans would prefer the Madrid-born winger to stay at Old Trafford, knowing the club’s financial position, few will hold it against him if he were to line up against them later on in the season.

Since being promoted to the United first team in 2022, Garnacho, who has three-and-a-half years left on his contract, has directly contributed to 37 goals in 118 matches in all competitions.

The winger’s most memorable moment came during a 3-0 league win against Everton in 2023 when he scored an unbelievable overhead kick which many believe was even better than Wayne Rooney’s iconic winner against Man City in 2011.
