Predicted Manchester United line-up to face Rangers in Europa League clash

Add as preferred source on Google

Manchester United are set for the penultimate game of the Europa League league phase on Thursday night.

Unlike the torrid time that Ruben Amorim has had to endure domestically, in Europe, things have been much better this season. Manchester United are unbeaten in the competition after six games and are currently on a three-game winning streak in the Europa League.

Last time out, was the last time we saw Marcus Rashford perform in a United kit, during a 2-1 win over Viktoria Plzen.

Interestingly, Rashford was back in United training on Wednesday – which could see him in the squad at Old Trafford on Thursday. Victor Lindelof returned to training, with the only absentees being Jonny Evans, Mason Mount and Luke Shaw.

Ahead of the visit of Rangers, it is worth considering how Amorim will line-up his United side – with some changes expected from the weekend’s defeat to Brighton.

How Manchester United could line-up against Rangers

Amorim will feel he has the squad to win on Thursday, but Rangers will not be pushovers, being unbeaten in 2025 and scoring three in four of their last five.

So due to the strength of opposition, Amorim will still go strong, with some changes to rotate a tired squad. A win for United would be huge and secure qualification for the play-off stage, and also on the cusp of the knockouts.

Here is our predicted line-up for the game.

Altay Bayindir

Andre Onana has been a disaster in the past month, so this game could be a massive chance for Altay Bayindir. The Turkish international deserves this game after how good he was against Arsenal.

Leny Yoro

After missing the first four months of the season through injury, Leny Yoro is finally putting a run of games together and we expect that to continue here, with Matthijs de Ligt rested instead.

Harry Maguire

In the centre of the back three, we expect that Harry Maguire will continue. The former club captain has become invaluable for Amorim and that trend will likely continue here.

Lisandro Martinez

Completing the back-line, Lisandro Martinez was on the bench against Brighton and so we expect that guarantees he will start against the Scottish giants. Amorim needs a lot more from Martinez in the remainder of this season.

Amad Diallo

At right wing-back, Amad Diallo has become an undroppable part of the team and playing him in this role gives United another dimension going forward. It will see Amad play against Rangers where he spent a short spell on loan.

Toby Collyer

Moving into midfield and we think Amorim has to rest his two first-choice options and therefore think it is a given that Toby Collyer will start. Collyer deserves to play and we think this will be his big chance.

Christian Eriksen

Joining Collyer in midfield, Christian Eriksen is the best choice to help United be more threatening going forward than in recent weeks. Eriksen had a magic assist for Amad last week and we could use more of that here.

Noussair Mazraoui

On the left, we await the arrival of Patrick Dorgu. But for now, we predict it will be Noussair Mazraoui who starts.

Bruno Fernandes

On the right No.10 spot, Bruno Fernandes would be our pick, where he can link up with Amad and hopefully get back to his best and help United to victory.

Alejandro Garnacho

With Bruno on the right, we would suggest Alejandro Garnacho gets a start on the left. Garnacho is potentially about to be sold, but as of now he is a United player and he should play.

Rasmus Hojlund

Up front, it seems Joshua Zirkzee and Rasmus Hojlund are battling to see who is worse at times. But with Hojlund’s European record he has to start here.
