Man Utd handed boost in Patrick Dorgu transfer chase, dominos are falling for Ruben Amorim

Patrick Dorgu looks increasingly likely to become the first senior signing of Ruben Amorim’s era at Manchester United.

When Ruben Amorim became the head coach at Old Trafford, the left wing-back was primed to be a priority position for Manchester United.

Amorim demanded an addition to this position and after links to several exciting options, it appears Jason Wilcox and Christopher Vivell have settled on signing Lecce’s Danish wonderkid Patrick Dorgu.

Dorgu is within Amorim’s grasp – this despite United’s first bid not meeting Lecce’s demands. Lecce is said to want £34m for Dorgu, while United have only bid £23m.

On Tuesday, Lecce’s director spoke out on the possible move with words which indicated that he expected higher bids. Now, the latest news to emerge from Lecce suggests the deal is advancing.

Lecce bid for possible Patrick Dorgu replacement

With Dorgu, it seems United have cast all the eggs into his basket with little talk of a move to trigger Alvaro Fernandez’s buy-back.

Now it would appear Lecce have taken steps to replace their star man.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the Serie A side has submitted an official offer to buy Estrela Amadora’s full-back Danilo Veiga.

The Portuguese U21 talent is also wanted by top clubs in Portugal like Sporting Lisbon, however, Lecce has made a bid and are in direct club-to-club talks.

Veiga is a right-back by trade, however, Dorgu has played on the right both as a winger and a full-back this season more often than he has on the left.

The versatility shown by Dorgu will be another reason United are so keen, as he can play on either side, with his ability as a winger a huge sign that he would give Amorim the desired attacking output.

Manchester United set to improve offer for Dorgu

So with the dominos now falling for United in regards to making a move to sign Dorgu, now the clubs need to come together and agree on a fee for the Dane who runs like three players.

Well, that is exactly what is now expected to happen, according to the latest report from Give Me Sport and Ben Jacobs.

It is explained that United are now preparing to submit an increased offer for Dorgu with further talks being arranged this week.

United’s next bid is expected to come close to £30m, a figure which United are not keen to surpass with a rejection of the next offer potentially set to have United walk away.

Lecce and United are expected to reach an agreement for less than the £34m demands, with both parties confident.
