Manchester United youngster Charlie Savage is looking to eventually go one better than his dad and establish himself in the club’s first team.
Robbie Savage was a Youth Cup winner with United in 1992 and went onto have a strong career in the Premier League and with Wales, just not for United.
Charlie Savage is in United’s academy and has recently been promoted to the club’s under-23 team, stepping up from the under-18s at the end of last season and signing a new deal.

Savage plays as a central midfielder, of course, and provided seven assists last season for the under-18s.
The 18-year-old lined up in his first EFL Trophy game this week, in a narrow 3-2 defeat to Lincoln City, partnering Hannibal in central midfield.
Dad and pundit Robbie Savage sent Charlie a message of encouragement on Instagram, saying, “You did well again son! Keep working hard.”

An assured performance
Savage had a hand in Manchester United’s first goal, playing the pass to pick out Shola Shoretire on the edge of the box, before he supplied Charlie McNeill with the chance he needed to score.
Savage managed even more touches than Hannibal (116) with 122 in total, while recording 92 per cent of his passes.
He made four interceptions and four tackles, showing quality on the defensive side of the ball.
Next up for the young midfielder, he will be tasked with helping United’s under-23 side try to win the mini-derby on Saturday against City.
There’s no knowing how far Savage will go in the game at this stage, but if he carries on showing the quality he did in midweek, then he has a real shot to succeed at United.
