Mark Helm sends message as Manchester United contract expires
On a day where everybody is focused on new arrivals at Manchester United, spare a thought for a player departing the club.
Young midfielder Mark Helm’s contract is at an end. United announced earlier in June that he would be released.
Helm had stayed quiet since that announcement was made, until last night.
The 19-year-old midfielder sent a message out thanking the club for everything they have done for him.
RONALDO NEEDS TO STOP WHINING.
Looking for a deal
Helm will now be looking for a new deal elsewhere and it is very possible he has a contract lined up already.
It will depend what Helm wants, whether he would rather join another club’s academy, or if he is ready to go and play first team football at a club a little lower down the league ladder. He could even decide to look abroad.
Helm began last season for the under-23s promisingly, filling in up front, before dropping back into midfield.
He played 20 league games for the under-23s and scored three goals.
While he showed moments of promise, he was not lined up for a first team promotion any time soon, and younger players Hannibal and Shola Shoretire had overtaken him.
United’s decision to release him will have come as a disappointment, but it is also in his best interests, and now he can go and pursue a future elsewhere.
