Manchester United youngster Owen Hampson has made a switch to Sheffield United.

Hampson was part of Manchester United’s under-16 group, playing alongside Daniel Gore, who has already stepped up to the under-18s.

The midfielder has now signed with Sheffield United and posted a picture on Instagram signing terms.

An image of a famous face, Red Devils captain Harry Maguire, can also be seen in the backdrop as Hampson posed for the picture. He came through Sheffield United’s academy and the Blades are proud of his rise.

Hampson is a Wales youth international and featured in their Under-17 squad last year at the age of just 15, Dragon Soccer reported.

The teenager had been on trial at Sheffield United in since February March, featuring in under-18 games for the club.

Not every youngster coming through at Carrington can make it, and Hampson has done well to find a spot at another club renowned for developing young players. We wish him the best of luck.

Decisions being made

Manchester United have a number of talented young under-16s who were promoted and made debuts for the under-18s in 2021. Hampson was not among them.

Daniel Gore, Kobbie Mainoo, Louis Jackson, Max Oyedele, Jack Kingdon, James Nolan and Finley McAllister were among the players who did.

Decisions have to be made at every level over who makes the cut and who doesn’t, with competition tougher than ever, with new recruits coming in each year too.

United’s under-18s finished second in the league last season and several of the group will be stepping up to the under-23s, including top scorer Charlie McNeill.
