Saturday afternoon saw the Manchester United U18s back in action with another absolute thrashing, beating Leeds 8-0 away from home.
After winning the treble last season, there would have been no qualms if Manchester United’s U18s were not quite so good this season – however, they may very well be better.
Adam Lawrence has done a stellar job and now his side are eight games in the the U18 Premier League campaign, winning all eight, scoring 40 goals and conceding just four.
- Manchester United – 24 points
- Manchester City – 19 points
- Derby County – 19 points
- Wolves – 15 points
Having failed to go invincible last season, Lawrence and this new band of U18s are back to finish the job and are the pride of the United academy right now.
An 8-0 win on Saturday leaves United five points ahead and with a goal difference of 36 – here is how the game went as both Amir Ibragimov and James Scanlon scored hat-tricks.

Manchester United U18 thrash Leeds
After a 6-0 win over Nottingham Forest, last weekend saw Chido Obi-Martin score a hat-trick on his first start for the club – this weekend saw two hat-tricks as United won 8-0 against Leeds.
Scanlon opened the scoring in the 10th minute and went on to score two more in the 47th and 75th minute of the game – he also provided one assist.
Bendito Mantato was a constant thorn in the side of the Leeds defence and got his goal in the 30th minute.
In the 37th minute, Victor Musa converted a penalty which Mantato won.
Obi-Martin came off the bench in the second half and had to settle for two assists with goals proving hard to come by for the striker on Saturday.
However, the undisputed star of the show was Ibragimov as he announced himself on the U18 stage, scoring three goals – and also running the game from the No.10 position.
After the game, fans had plenty to say, with Ibragimov being at the centre of praise and a Ruben Amorim prediction was even made.
United fans make predictions involving Amir Ibragimov and Ruben Amorim
Ibragimov is having a sensational breakout year for the U18s. This comes months after the 16-year-old stated his ambitions of a first-team debut this season.
Now, with a manager like Amorim, who has a history of promoting youth, Ibragimov is fighting to earn a debut – and fans are tipping him to be the next academy breakout.
Some fans were even predicting the new United manager could love Ibragimov: “Ibragimov will be Amorim’s man I’m telling ya. Joke of a player”.
“Amir Ibragimov is a type of profile that Ruben Amorim would love”, explained a second after watching the teenager play against Leeds.
“Ibragimov probably going to be the next breakthrough star”, one fan raved about the Dagestan-born attacker.
A second echoed this sentiment, writing: “Amir Ibragimov… next breakout star”.
Others were simply in awe: “The kid Ibragimov in the U18s is going to be some player. Exciting talent. Good little side too, give them a watch if you get the chance.”
“I really like Ibragimov. Hope he makes it to the first team eventually”, a final fan raved.
