There was considerable excitement within the Manchester United fanbase when the Red Devils pulled off the signing of Chido Obi-Martin from Arsenal.
Since Ineos’ 27 per cent purchase of Manchester United back in December of 2023, Sir Jim Ratcliffe and the team have been busy looking to improve every facet of the Old Trafford club.
One aspect that has not really needed much improvement has been the United academy with the Red Devils producing countless world-class talents including Kobbie Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho.
United completed the signing of Chido Obi Martin from Arsenal and the exciting teenage forward made his debut for the Red Devils’ under-18 side against Nottingham Forest and it is fair to say the teenager made quite an impact.

After a UEFA Youth League victory in the week, United’s academy side under Adam Lawrence raced into a three-goal lead thanks to a trio of brilliant goals from Obi-Martin.
The first for Obi Martin arrived in just 20 seconds before he added a double before the 20-minute mark which sealed an impressive hattrick.
James Scanlon and Amir Ibragimov added a fourth and a fifth for the Red Devils before half-time in what was an electric first 45 minutes. Jim Thwaites made it six after half-time with a brilliant free-kick to seal an emphatic victory.
The focus will inevitably be on Chido who was rampant against Forest’s academy side and the excitement around the striker will only increase after this display.
Chido Obi Martin completes exciting strike options
Whilst all of the focus has recently been on the signing from Arsenal, the Red Devils have more than enough weapons in their attacking arsenal to cause any academy side problems.
Gabriele Biancheri has 14 goals to his name this season whilst Ethan Wheatley has made multiple first-team cameos.
The credit for the discovery and the development of these players falls on Nick Cox and the academy team who are one of the best in the country.
