Manchester United think they have found the perfect Erik ten Hag replacement as talks to secure the arrival of Ruben Amorim continue.

Erik ten Hag’s time as the manager of Manchester United came to an end on Monday.

This comes after a run of one win in eight and the Red Devils sitting 14th in the Premier League – leaving United no choice but to sack Ten Hag.

In the same statement, United also announced that legendary striker Ruud van Nistelrooy would be taking over in an interim role until the next permanent manager could be arranged.

Now, Ruben Amorim has agreed personal terms over a move to Old Trafford – with the press in Portugal even stating that Amorim is just small steps away from being named new United boss.

Ahead of his possible appointment, there is one trait of Amorim’s which places him well to be an immediate hit at United.

Ruben Amorim will continue Manchester United traditions

Youth, Courage, Success is a motto frequently associated with football at Old Trafford, and under Amorim, this tradition of utilising the academy and young players would absolutely be continued.

Any success Amorim has had at Sporting has been centred around utilising the youth at his disposal – winning championships while turning teenage debutants into star players within weeks.

Felipe Celikkaya – who worked with Amorim at Sporting – told Sky Sports that Amorim promoted 25 youth players to the senior team in his four years in charge.

This list is just some of the names that Amorim has either promoted from the academy or brought in young and developed into a top player – with United even showing an interest in Quenda.

With this in mind, Amorim and Ineos could be licking their lips at what the Portuguese coach could do with the incredible talents currently in the United academy.

Amorim could already have several academy players ready to step up

Upon arrival, we would not be surprised if the first people through Amorim’s office doors were Adam Lawrence and Travis Binnion.

Both will think they have players deserving of a chance in the first-team as the U18s are in immense form while some U21s are catching the eye this season.

For Amorim, this could be a way to fix some of the glaring weaknesses in his squad right now.

Harry Amass is the obvious name to be promoted, with a left-footed wing-back likely on Amorim’s list to find immediately.

Amorim could also look toward the midfield academy options with Sekou Kone, Jim Thwaites and Jayce Fitzgerald all looking like players who would fit into his stylistic plan.

In terms of the attack, Amir Ibragimov and Shea Lacey have been in form, while Chido Obi-Martin showed instantly on his first U18 start that he is the real deal.

Gabriele Biancheri and Ethan Ennis will also be thinking they could force themselves into the plans of Amorim at United.
