There is an exciting batch of academy stars who will soon be knocking on Ruben Amorim’s door for a first-team breakthrough.
While the 2024/25 season has been hugely underwhelming for the Manchester United first team, the club’s youth teams have enjoyed success this season.
United’s Under-18s have been absolutely flawless having won all 10 of their league games so far. The Under-21s also sit sixth in Premier League 2 and their last match ended with a 5-1 victory over Southampton.
Ruben Amorim has a great record with youth players and already the Portuguese head coach has shown his faith in the academy by promoting Godwill Kukonki to the first team.
Reports also suggest that summer signing Chido Obi could make his senior debut sooner than expected after impressing at Carrington. There are two other youngsters on the verge of first-team action, and their superb December has now been rewarded.

Dan Gore and Jack Moorhouse nominated for PL2 award
Two midfielders who impressed over the month of December are Dan Gore and Jack Moorhouse, who both starred for United’s Under-21s.
Gore is simply too good for Under-21s football and at 20-years-old he will be desperate for a first-team opportunity.
After his impressive first half of the season, Gore has been compared to Manuel Ugarte with the young midfielder seemingly a perfect fit for Amorim’s 3-4-3 system.
Moorhouse made his return from injury in November and has not looked back since. He has stepped up to the Under-21s and starred.
Against Southampton, Moorhouse put on a “dazzling display” in front of Amorim, who was at Carrington to watch the academy side play.
As a result of their successful December, both Gore and Moorhouse have been nominated for the Premier League 2 Player of the Month.
They join an eight-man shortlist, with the winner to be announced later this week.
Dan Gore could leave Man United on loan this month
With the January transfer window now open, United can begin to look for loan opportunities for some of their brightest young talent.
Gore is one of seven United youngsters who need a loan, and talks are now underway to find him a club.
He went out on a six-month loan to Port Vale this time last year, but an injury on his debut followed by further shoulder problems meant he only made one appearance for the club.
Amorim agrees that Gore should be loaned out with the Red Devils ‘actively’ looking for suitors for not just him, but also academy teammate Harry Amass.
