Patrick Dorgu has been Manchester United’s priority this month and the deal now looks imminent.
Since Ruben Amorim was appointed Manchester United’s head coach in November, it was widely assumed that he would be backed in January with a left wing-back.
Several big names were linked with United, but Patrick Dorgu was always viewed as an ideal fit for the requirements of a wing-back under Amorim.
Dorgu to United was unlikely at one point, with the deal looking like a difficult one to complete due to the asking price placed onto the Dane by Lecce.
By United opting for Dorgu and persisting in a deal despite the long-dragging negotiations, it showcases Ineos’ commitment to signing the best youngsters in football and we are sure Amorim will love Dorgu.
The deal however is no longer hypothetical, it is happening and it has now been revealed when he will arrive in Manchester for his medical.

Patrick Dorgu’s Manchester United medical set for Thursday
On Tuesday, United agreed on a deal to sign Dorgu with a £24.7m initial fee being cited – which is a potential bargain, even if he triggers the £6m in hard-to-achieve add-ons.
Dorgu’s arrival in Manchester is now imminent with Kaveh Solhekol saying on Sky Sports News that he expects Dorgu to fly into the City later on Wednesday ahead of completing the deal.
After landing in Manchester, Dorgu will likely go straight to Carrington – but his medical is booked for Thursday.
This is as Fabrizio Romano took to X to claim that United have “booked medical tests” for Dorgu to undergo on Thursday before he officially becomes the latest addition to Amorim’s squad.
Dorgu is expected to earn £30,000-a-week upon completion of the deal which is a very reasonable wage and one which is befitting the new structure at the club.
If all goes to plan, therefore, we could be seeing the arrival of Dorgu announced on Thursday, while the rest of the squad are in Romania. However, Dorgu arriving on Wednesday should mean he gets to meet the team and coaches before they depart.
When Patrick Dorgu could make Manchester United debut
With the arrival of Dorgu all but guaranteed to come in the next couple of days, Amorim will be eyeing up when he can hand Dorgu his debut.
He will not be involved against FCSB in Romania on Thursday, but this weekend’s upcoming Premier League game against Crystal Palace could be a real opportunity.

United – still without a natural option – will bring a squad which could be suffering a European hangover to Old Trafford on Sunday or the arrival of Palace.
Therefore, with Dorgu well-rested and already fit, it could be that Amorim opts to throw him straight into the starting line-up, as we are sure Amorim will be eager to use his new key piece of the puzzle.
