Sporting director has launched ‘mission’ to sign Man United star after Ineos set summer asking price

Ruben Amorim’s Manchester United squad will be overhauled this summer and there has already been plenty of behind-the-scenes talks.

In order to raise funds for new signings, Ineos want to make over £100m in sales this summer.

Manchester United slumping to 15th in the Premier League table has proven that many players in the current first-team squad are simply not good enough, and Ineos have already proved they will be ruthless owners.

Since the takeover, Ineos’ recruitment has been flawless and the likes of Jason Wilcox will work closely with Amorim to plan for the summer window.

It is no secret that signing a new centre-forward will be a top priority, but there is still a chance that one could be headed for the exit too.

Sporting director makes ‘concrete’ approach for Rasmus Hojlund

It has been an extremely difficult season for Rasmus Hojlund, who has at times struggled to cope with the demands of being United’s first-choice striker.

Nine goals in 47 appearances across all competitions tells the story of a striker low on confidence and in poor form in front of goal.

Amorim continues to praise Hojlund for his efforts this season, but the truth is that United need a more clinical centre-forward. In order to afford one this summer, Hojlund could yet be sold.

Throughout the season, Hojlund has attracted interest from Italy, and now a fresh report claims Juventus are starting to make a move.

According to Italian outlet CalcioMercato, Juventus’ sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli has made “concrete steps” in his mission to sign Hojlund.

Giuntoli has made contact with club chiefs at Old Trafford to explore a potential move. Juventus also showed interest in Joshua Zirkzee earlier this season, but it seems their preference has switched to Hojlund.

Ineos have already named Rasmus Hojlund asking price

Hojlund arrived at Old Trafford as an extremely exciting and promising prospect, but concerns are growing about his ability to thrive in Manchester.

At 22 years old, Hojlund is still one of United’s most valuable players, and with United strapped for cash, selling him this summer is one way to help fund the squad overhaul.

United signed Hojlund for £64m from Atalanta, and it seems unlikely that the Red Devils will make a profit on that figure anytime soon.

Ahead of the summer, Ineos have set a £52m asking price for Hojlund, which may not recoup the entirety of the transfer fee paid by United, but it would represent profit from a PSR perspective.
