Manchester United are quickly becoming one of the busiest clubs in the January transfer window. The Red Devils could yet complete multiple pieces of business.
It’s no secret — United’s owners must make some high-profile sales to meet the Premier League’s rules on Profit and Sustainability (PSR).
Marcus Rashford wants to join Barcelona after he was told he can leave Old Trafford. And although the 27-year-old, who came through United’s academy, is the player making the most headlines, there is another forward linked with a January transfer.

Premier League club join Alejandro Garnacho race
Sir Jim Ratcliffe is taking a new approach to United’s financial dealings, which is why Alejandro Garnacho has also been made available for transfer.
The Argentine attacker is one of United’s homegrown players, meaning a sale would represent 100 per cent profit on the club’s books.

After they sold Khvicha Kvaratskhelia to Paris Saint-Germain, Garnacho has emerged as Napoli’s top transfer target. A deal hinges on the Italians meeting United’s asking price for Garnacho, though.
Consequently, with some uncertainty surrounding Napoli’s ability to progress negotiations, Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham have joined the race to sign United’s number 17.
According to Football Transfers, the Lilywhites are willing to offer United £60 million and believe it would be enough to lure the South American to the capital.
Sir Jim Ratcliffe must repeat Marcus Rashford trick
Even though they will welcome offers for nearly all of their players, United understandably don’t want to strengthen their domestic rivals.
Consequently, Ratcliffe has blocked three English clubs from signing Rashford, Spurs included.
The United minority shareholder must take the same approach with Garnacho.
Fans could just about stomach seeing him move to the Serie A, but they certainly won’t want to see him move to London — especially if it directly impacts the side’s chances of qualifying for Europe next season.
Nevertheless, in the unlikely event Garnacho does end up joining Tottenham, he would follow in the footsteps of Fraizer Campbell and Louis Saha, who both swapped United’s famous red colours for Spurs’ all-white during their careers.
