Ruben Amorim’s silence over his move to Manchester United has finally been broken and this has included discussing potential transfer business.
After Erik ten Hag was sacked last Monday, it is now known that Ruben Amorim will be the next Manchester United head coach, the club officially announced his appointment on Friday.
After over four years of turning Sporting Lisbon into the biggest winning machine in Europe, Amorim is now ready for the new challenge of restoring United to the pinnacle of football.
The 39-year-old Portuguese coach will have plenty of decisions to make in the next few months, however, he will not have a direct verdict on transfers.
That being said, Amorim will be able to ask for and recommend players – it will just be up to Dan Ashworth whether a move is made.
Well, now Amorim has made one thing clear about this January transfer window.

Ruben Amorim rules out transfer swoop in January
One thing which has been a hot topic among fans is looking at Sporting Lisbon players who United could sign.
United had been linked with several players from the Portuguese giants even before Amorim’s arrival – with one name fans are excited by being lethal striker Viktor Gyokeres.
Inevitably, following his Sporting team’s 4-1 win on Friday night, questions from reporters touched on this.
“Gyokeres costs £100m,” said Amorim as quoted by Sky Sports.
“It’s very complicated. I will not take any of Sporting’s players in January. But that’s another story.”
After how many of his former players Ten Hag signed, many may assume the same would happen, however with the new footballing structure – this was always unlikely.
Manchester United have been linked with several Sporting players
This news is hardly a surprise, as spending tens of millions in January is unlikely – but this does come amid reliable reports suggesting that Amorim wants one or two Sporting players.
The Sun reported that Amorim is keen on taking £70m defender Ousmane Diomande with him to Old Trafford in order to bolster his defensive options.
Diomande has long been linked with United, as has the midfield general for Amorim, Morten Hjulmand who was an option before Manuel Ugarte was acquired.
Goncalo Ignacio is another central defender who has been linked with United for years at this point.
Geovany Quenda is a more recent link, as the teenager would actually fit the mould of transfer Ineos want to do.
With so much speculation, it is important to remember that United are not looking to be the club to spend big money, but rather will be hoping Amorim could use the youth to an excellent degree.
