Manchester United’s potential Tyrell Malacia sell-on clause disclosed as Old Trafford now imminent

Manchester United were quiet on transfer deadline day but one departure is now about to go through hours after the Premier League window closed.

Deadline day ended up being a non-event for Manchester United fans.

The attacking signing so desperately needed didn’t materialise and United ended the window with three signings, all under-21 players and one only arrives this summer.

Departures have actually been more prominent with Marcus Rashford signing for Aston Villa.

Ruben Curley joined Stoke City too as United continued to ship players out of Old Trafford.

The English transfer deadline passed around 24 hours ago now but the Dutch market remains open – and that could lead to another exit.

Manchester United ace set for exit

Left back Tyrell Malacia seemingly hasn’t done enough to impress Ruben Amorim.

Malacia has battled back from 18 months on the treatment table but has been made available this month.

United signing Patrick Dorgu effectively pushed Malacia towards the exit but his departure has not been straightforward.

Malacia’s move to Benfica collapsed over the weekend and left him in limbo ahead of the deadline.

PSV moved for Malacia on Monday though and whilst the deal has taken some time to thrash out, Malacia is set for a return to the Netherlands.

Fabrizio Romano reports that Malacia is joining PSV on loan until the end of the season, with the Eredivisie leaders paying his wages in full.

It’s added that PSV can sign Malacia permanently for €10million (£8.3million) – a loss of around £7million after United signed Malacia for £15million in 2022.

Manchester United’s Tyrell Malacia sell-on clause

Romano adds that United have placed a 30% sell-on clause into Malacia’s PSV deal, if they activate the permanent option.

United seem more than willing to let Malacia go but want a slice of any potential future fee.

Malacia started so well at United but his injury woe set him back – and he just hasn’t been able to get back to his best.

A fresh start – and a return to the Netherlands – may be just what Malacia needs and he joins a title challenge at PSV.

Peter Bosz’s side coasted to the Eredivisie title last season and now sit top again this term, meaning Malacia could end the season as a champion.
