Manchester United have started the Ruben Amorim era but it’s clear that the new manager will need some backing to take the club forward.
Ruben Amorim took charge of his first Manchester United game on Sunday and was in dreamland just seconds into the clash with Ipswich Town.
Marcus Rashford fired United ahead early on but Ipswich deservedly found a leveller and earned a 1-1 draw at Portman Road.
Amorim was unhappy with United’s lack of control as that early lead simply wasn’t built upon.
There is clearly so much work for Amorim to do at United and whilst that starts with tactics and preparation, the transfer window is looming large.

Manchester United eye potential loan signing
Amorim likely knows that there isn’t huge money to spend during the January transfer window.
Ineos invested considerable cash over the summer and will likely wait until next summer to spend big again.
There are areas of the United squad which need some retooling though and left wing back is likely to be top of the list.
Amorim already wants a new left wing back option according to Fabrizio Romano but the budget appears to be limited.
The Daily Mail now claim that United could pounce to sign a left back on loan with a permanent option included for the summer.
United signed a left back on loan in 2023 as Sergio Reguilon signed from Tottenham before having his stay cut short in January 2024.
United now seem ready to dip back into the loan market to try and help Amorim’s system, but just who comes in is a mystery.

Linked left wing backs now don’t make sense for United
We have seen United like with so many left backs or left wing backs in recent times.
Alphonso Davies is a United target whilst speculation on Tuesday suggested that United want AC Milan’s Theo Hernandez.
Davies is out of contract in the summer and Hernandez is arguably Milan’s most important player, so they won’t be available on loan.
Alvaro Fernandez has been linked with a United return but there a loan return to Old Trafford just months after United sold him would be a surprise.
Milos Kerkez is on United’s radar whilst Rayan Ait-Nouri has been linked with United this week.
Would Bournemouth or Wolverhampton Wanderers loan their top left backs to United in January, even with the promise of a permanent deal in the summer?
That seems unlikely and United’s plan to take a left back on loan means a mystery target elsewhere may actually be the focus rather than these rumoured names.
