Erik ten Hag is no more at Old Trafford, as Ineos close in on appointing their own man to the helm of Manchester United.
After a run of one win in eight games, it is hardly a surprise that Ineos took the decision to remove Erik ten Hag from his role as Manchester United manager on Monday.
It came following Sunday’s defeat to West Ham which saw United drop down to 14th in the league with no sign of things changing.

After the sacking, it quite quickly became apparent that Sporting Lisbon’s Ruben Amorim was the top choice for Ineos.
Monday evening even saw Amorim agree to becoming United boss. Now just 24 hours later, United have completed the deal to appoint Amorim.
But now before he has even landed in England, one of Ten Hag’s biggest blunders is being rectified by Ineos.

Antony told he can leave amid Ruben Amorim’s arrival
As Ten Hag leaves, United are left with several players that Ten Hag signed who he worked with before, with the one big problem being Antony.
Now in his third season, Antony is a sporadic squad player – scoring just 12 goals and having five assists in his 87 appearances so far.
- 24/25 – 5 games, 1 goal, 0 assists
- 23/24 – 38 games, 3 goals, 2 assists
- 22/23 – 44 games, 8 goals, 3 assists
Antony has even lost the trust of Ten Hag this season – with just 155 minutes of action this season to date.
Now, it has been reported by Alex Crook and talkSPORT that within a day of Ten Hag’s sacking, Antony has been informed that he can leave in January.
After failing to justify even a fraction of his £86m fee, Ineos are now ready to cut losses as Amorim nears arrival – despite Antony performing well against the Sporting manager in the past.
It was added that Ten Hag subbing on Antony instead of Amad against Fenerbahce did not go down well within the United hierarchy.
Manchester United have an abundance of replacements
Antony’s role in the team had dropped off the face of a cliff before Ten Hag’s departure, but now with nobody fighting his cause, an exit seems very likely.
In this event, it will free up space in the first team for United to promote an academy prospect which Amorim is famed for doing.
With this in mind, Shea Lacey could be the perfect replacement for Antony.
Aside from Lacey, Bendito Mantato is another talented right-sided forward emerging through the ranks who could be an absolute star.
Losing Antony will be of no consequence to United and it will be interesting to see if Amorim does use the academy for the replacement.
