The goalkeeping situation is one Manchester United look keen to address over the next two transfer windows.
Ever since Ruben Amorim’s arrival at Old Trafford, neither of these two goalkeepers has covered themselves in glory.
Andre Onana has had some embarrassing moments in goal, while he is regularly making mistakes that will have Amorim concerned.
For Amorim, the alternative is no better, with Altay Bayindir failing his chance by conceding four awful goals to Tottenham.
Due to this – and Tom Heaton’s likely 2025 departure – United want two new goalkeepers to overhaul the position.
In this event, one player continues to be a top goalkeeping target for United to eventually replace Onana.

Zion Suzuki is on Manchester United’s radar
With goalkeeping overhauls expected in the new year, there has been a timely link with young Japanese goalkeeper Zion Suzuki.
The impressive No.1 has been on United’s radar since 2023 when he was playing for the Urawa Red Diamonds in Japan. Suzuki snubbed a move to United that summer, opting to join St. Truiden instead.
In the summer of 2024, United were also linked with Suzuki again, before he made another step up to join Serie A side Parma.
Now, it seems United will be keen for a third year running, with Japanese expert journalist Marco Molla claiming the 22-year-old is on United’s radar.
He reveals that Erik ten Hag had a phone call with Suzuki in 2023, indicating how close he was to joining.
Next summer, United are set to battle Bayern Munich for Suzuki – one which we would back Ineos to win given the long-standing interest.
Suzuki rejected United due to backing himself to build his way up and each year he has done that with a move to a better league – the next logical step would be the Premier League.
Suzuki is becoming a world class goalkeeper
Ineos continuing to chase Suzuki is a wise call from the club, with the Japan international having all the materials to be an elite goalkeeper.
After just one season in Belgium, Suzuki was the best in the league, and since has also been impressing with Parma
Suzuki is becoming a world class goalkeeper at the Italian side while playing in a team which is 14th in the league – an expected position.
Suzuki has made 55 saves this season (91st percentile) and importantly made zero errors leading to goals. The Parma shot-stopper has also ranked in the 94th percentile for high claims and boasts 105 accurate long passes (82nd percentile).
These figures would all be likely to improve at United and it’s easy to see why he’s attracting interest.
