Manchester United fans dropped their brutal verdict on Altay Bayindir after the back-up shot-stopper’s woeful performance against Tottenham on Thursday evening.

The Red Devils’ hopes of reaching the Carabao Cup semi-finals were thwarted after suffering a 4-3 defeat to Spurs at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Tottenham inflicted the first blow in the Carabao Cup quarter-final tie after Dominic Solanke broke the deadlock against Manchester United in the 15th minute.

Spurs extended their lead only a minute into the second half through Dejan Kulusevski and Dominic Solanke completed his brace in the 54th minute.

Ruben Amorim’s men faced an uphill battle against Tottenham and United rallied back after Joshua Zirkzee and Amad Diallo netted to reduce the deficit.

However, Son Heung-min added Spurs’ fourth in the 88th minute before Jonny Evans found the back of the net for United in injury time.

Bayindir’s shocking display vs Tottenham

Altay Bayindir, who was signed under Erik ten Hag in 2023, has started and played in all three of Manchester United’s Carabao Cup matches this season.

Andre Onana has firmly established himself as United’s No 1 and Bayindir has struggled to secure regular playing time at Old Trafford.

Bayindir played the full 90 minutes in Thursday’s 4-3 defeat and the Turkish shot-stopper dropped a nightmare performance for the Red Devils.

The 26-year-old Turkey international was at fault for Spurs’ first-half opener after he parried Pedro Porro’s long-range strike right into the path of Dominic Solanke.

Bayindir then had a major howler in the dying stages of the Carabao Cup clash amid United chasing an equaliser when the scoreline was 3-2.

Son Heung-min whipped in a corner and Bayindir completely misread the ball, with the Tottenham captain’s cross flying into the back of the United net.

Man Utd fans react to Bayindir’s performance

United fans on social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, ruthlessly pulled no punches towards Bayindir after his disastrous showing against Tottenham.

Red Devils supporters believe that they have seen enough of Bayindir and want him placed on the chopping block under United manager Ruben Amorim.

“Bayindir is never going to come back from this for me; I’m so done with him,” one fan said.

Another X user wrote: “There was lots of hype when we bought Bayindir, but I haven’t seen much from [him] in the way of a quality ‘keeper. Lots of mistakes.”

“Bayindir should just never play again and should be sold – [he is] awful,” someone else commented.

While a fourth added: “We literally had [Matej] Kovar, but Ten Hag decided to sell him and sign Bayindir.”

“Never want to see Bayindir play again. Sell him in January,” a fifth tweeted.

Somebody else claimed: “Bayindir can never see that pitch again. Sell him after this [match].”

A seventh posted: “Nah, the club should have accepted that offer from Rangers for Bayindir in the summer. I reckon [Tom] Heaton would have done much better in those situations.”

And an eighth simply wrote: “Never want to see Bayindir again; if he wants to leave, let him.”
