Man Utd ‘set Noussair Mazraoui medical’, Ten Hag wants him for Community Shield

Manchester United have reportedly made a breakthrough in their attempts to sign Bayern Munich right-back Noussair Mazraoui.

Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United are in the market for a new right-back after Aaron Wan-Bissaka agreed terms on a move to West Ham United.

United had seen a double bid for Matthijs De Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui rejected with Bayern Munich demanding more money for the out of favour pair.

Mazraoui would be able to deputise at left-back, too with Luke Shaw being one of the five most injured players for the Red Devils so depth will certainly be important and it seems progress has been made on the deal to sign the Moroccan.

Man United set Noussair Mazraoui medical date

According to a post on X from Santi Aouna, the Foot Mercato journalist, Mazraoui, if all being well, is set to fly into Manchester on Tuesday to undergo his medical.

Bayern have reportedly authorised for Mazraoui to move to Old Trafford this summer with the Moroccan defender set to take a flight to Manchester in the next few days.

Mazraoui looks set to sign a deal at Old Trafford until 2029 with an option of a further year with the 26-year-old set to play a key role under Ten Hag.

The Dutchman also reportedly wants Mazraoui available for United’s community shield game against Manchester City on August the 10th.

The signing of Mazraoui would represent the club’s third of the summer after United signed Leny Yoro and added Bologna’s Joshua Zirkzee to their forward line ahead of the new season.

Mazraoui could be vital signing for United

Mazraoui had made it clear that United was the move he wanted and it now seems the Red Devils are set to clinch a deal for the Moroccan.

Ten Hag and Mazraoui certainly had a close relationship and the versatility that the former Ajax ace offers to the Dutchman could be key for United, particularly if the injury problems continue to persist.

De Ligt is also on the radar for United but signing Mazraoui, and solving two problem positions at once, could be one of the smartest deals that the Red Devils do this summer.
