Big step taken in Aaron Wan-Bissaka to West Ham move, Man Utd have just told Mazraoui to get ready to sign

Manchester United are looking to make a change at right-back, and the pieces are falling into place.

Right-back is a position where Manchester United want to make a change, to double down on Erik ten Hag’s preferred playing style by adding Noussair Mazraoui.

Mazraoui was the first Ajax academy player Erik ten Hag handed a debut to, and United had a deal in place with Bayern Munich to sign him.

The hold-up has been Aaron Wan-Bissaka, who has just one-year remaining on his current deal at Manchester United.

Wan-Bissaka exit close

Manchester United are looking to sell Aaron Wan-Bissaka to West Ham, who are keen to replace Ben Johnson, who has signed for Ipswich Town.

Wan-Bissaka’s willingness to move on was unclear, but it appears there has now been a breakthrough.

Florian Plettenberg reports: “West Ham have now reached a verbal agreement with Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

“Personal terms agreed. 26 y/o right-back can sign a contract until 2029 with #WHUFC.

“But no agreement with Man Utd yet. West Ham have made an offer of £10m. #MUFC demand up to £18m at this stage.”

An agreement between the clubs won’t be far off. Getting Wan-Bissaka to agree to his new future at West Ham was key.

He is currently on tour with Manchester United, where he has been the only right-back on tour, with Diogo Dalot still resting after Euro 2024.

Mazraoui deal teed up

Noussair Mazraoui is currently also on tour, on the opposite side of the world with Bayern Munich playing in South Korea.

However, this was said to be unlikely to prevent Mazraoui’s move to Manchester United.

According to Santi Aouna, Manchester United have told the Moroccan right-back to get ready to move.

He reports: “Manchester United has informed Noussair Mazraoui that the deal will be finalized

This is a positive step for Manchester United, making a change Erik ten Hag wants. Aaron Wan-Bissaka has been a loyal servant for United since his move in 2019 from Crystal Palace, but with just one year left on his deal, it is time to move on.

Wan-Bissaka and Dalot are different types of right-back, and while that variety can be a positive, signing Mazraoui is a commitment towards a defined playing style, rather than indecision.
