Noussair Mazraoui’s quotes on Erik ten Hag may well provide a hint as to why the Moroccan wants to join Manchester United.

Manchester United are looking for a new full-back this summer due to the injury problems that the Red Devils suffered last season, particularly at left-back.

Luke Shaw was one of the most injured players for United last season whilst Tyrell Malacia has passed a year since he suffered his mysterious injury and has yet to make an appearance since then.

Bayern Munich full-back Noussair Mazraoui is reportedly keen on a move to United and the past quotes from the Moroccan on working with Erik ten Hag may well explain his willingness to move to Old Trafford.

Noussair Mazraoui’s quotes on Erik ten Hag explains his desire to move

Mazraoui was one of Ten Hag’s most important players during the pair’s time at Ajax as the Dutch side won multiple Eredivisie titles and reached the semi-final of the UEFA Champions League in 2019.

Back in May of 2022, before Ten Hag departed Ajax to move to Old Trafford, Mazraoui explained how much the Dutchman has helped him during his career.

“It was great to work with Erik ten Hag,” Mazraoui told Voetbal Primeur. “He helped me in the beginning mainly on a tactical level, but then also with all kinds of other things, such as my lifestyle and my attacking development.

“[He is] A top coach, who has been very important to me and with whom we have achieved great successes.”

United have reportedly seen a double offer for Mazraoui and Matthijs De Ligt rejected and it appears a double deal could well be on the cards.

Mazraoui needed for United

With Diogo Dalot as United’s first-choice right-back option, this has brought into question the future of Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

West Ham have agreed personal terms with Wan-Bissaka and a deal now looks close so another full-back will be needed.

Mazraoui can also play left-back with Shaw’s injury record not being the best so having that option to rely on in Mazraoui, could be key.
